Tooth
Coloured Composite Fillings
Tooth coloured
composites are made from durable plastics called composite resins. Similar in colour and
texture to natural teeth. The fillings are unnoticeable and much more attractive. This
type of filling can be used on front and back teeth.
It is a very good
choice for replacing old discoloured silver amalgam fillings. It involves removal only of
the decayed part of the tooth or the old filling thereby preserving the tooth structure.
Procedure:
If the tooth is
sensitive or in case of deep cavities a local anaesthesia will be administered. After the
decayed part or the old filling is removed the tooth is conditioned, the tooth coloured
filling material is placed in and set in the chair side with a curing light. The filling
is completed and polished. There is no need to wait for eating and drinking as the filling
sets chair side.
